- Start by cleaning the tub with soap and water to remove any dust or dirt and dry the galvanized tub.
- Put a drop cloth down. Following the manufactures instructions spray paint the inside Universal Gloss Canary Yellow.
- Once the inside has dried, flip the tub and spray paint the exterior and the bottom Universal Metallic Satin Nickel according to the manufacturer’s label. Allow ample drying time.
- To elevate the tub to seat height, add 7.5 cm swivel casters. Evenly space the casters on the bottom and mark the holes.
- Drill- 4 holes per caster using a .635cm drill bit.
- Insert the bolt from the inside through the tub and through the hole on the caster. Use hex nuts to tighten the bolt.
-
Use a jigsaw to cut the wood ottoman top and tabletop circles. Cut 2cm oak plywood 7.5cm larger than the tub mouth to create the ottoman top. Tip : To draw a large circle on the plywood insert a screw into the end of a large paint stick. Make a mark on the paint stick half the distance of the ottoman top to meaure the ottoman’s radius, then trace it in a circle using a pencil.
-
To create the tabletop, on the backside of the ottoman, cut the 2cm oak plywood 2.5cm smaller than the mouth of the tub. Gently sand all plywood edges.
-
Using a sharp scissors or an electric knife cut foam the same size as the larger 2cm oak top.
-
Adhere the foam using general purpose spray adhesive and gently press the foam in place.
-
Place your fabric right side down on your work surface. Then place the ottoman top onto the fabric with the foam side down touching the back of the fabric. If using a patterned fabric make sure it’s centered. Pull the fabric tightly around the foam to the wood back and staple the fabric in place. Continue to staple along the edges until all the fabric is secured.
-
Trim excess fabric.
-
Apply NeverWet Fabric according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Add a decorative element to the outside edge using 2cm grommets and a rubber mallet.
-
Flip the completed ottoman top over, fabric side down. Center the wood coffee tabletop. Drill 4 - 1cm countersink holes.
-
Attach the wooden coffee tabletop to the ottoman using wood screws.
-
Cover the holes using wood plugs and glue.
